SK VPN
Private cloud backup & remote access

SK VPN

A private, single-owner application that keeps the owner's own devices reachable over a secure tunnel and backs up the owner's own files to the owner's own Google Drive account.

What this application is

SK VPN is a private utility application, not a public service. It is operated by one individual account owner and used by that owner together with a small number of explicitly invited family members. There is no public sign-up and no marketplace listing.

This website is entirely public: no login, account, or password is required to read any page here. All information about the application, including its purpose, the Google user data it accesses, and how that data is handled, is published openly on this page.

What the application does

Private remote access

Creates an encrypted tunnel so the owner can reach their own computers and storage from another network. No third-party traffic is carried and no other user is hosted.

Google Drive backup

After the owner grants consent with Google, the application uploads copies of selected folders from the owner's machines into the owner's own Google Drive, and can restore them later.

Personal automation

Scheduled maintenance jobs and a private file-transfer channel that move files between the owner's own devices. All jobs are scoped to accounts the owner controls.

How SK VPN uses Google user data

SK VPN connects to Google only through Google's standard OAuth 2.0 flow. A person must sign in with their own Google Account and explicitly approve the requested permission on Google's consent screen before any data is read or written.

  1. The account owner clicks Connect Google Drive inside the application and is redirected to Google's own sign-in and consent page.
  2. Google shows the exact permissions being requested. Nothing is shared until the owner approves them.
  3. The application receives an OAuth access token (and a refresh token) and uses it only to copy files between the owner's computer and the owner's own Drive.
  4. Backups run on a schedule selected by the owner. Each run uploads new or changed files and records a manifest of what was stored.
  5. The owner can revoke access at any time from the Google Account permissions page, which immediately invalidates the tokens.
Google permission (scope)Why it is needed
.../auth/drive.file Create, read, and manage only the files and folders this application itself created in the owner's Drive. Used for the standard backup path.
.../auth/drive Read and write files across the owner's own Drive. Requested only for the optional full-backup mode that mirrors existing folders the owner selects, and for restoring a backup.
.../auth/userinfo.email Identify which Google Account is connected so backups are stored under the correct account and so the owner can see the connection status.
SK VPN's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

How the backup works in practice

On the owner's Windows machine a scheduled task runs a backup job at a chosen interval. The job collects the selected folders into archives, then uploads them to the owner's Drive through the official Drive API. Backup runs are incremental: files already stored with an identical name and size are skipped.

When a backup is restored, the application lists the backup folder in Drive and downloads the requested archives back to local disk. No data leaves the owner's account: the source is the owner's machine and the destination is the owner's Drive.

What SK VPN does not do

Who may use it

The application is intended for the account owner and for family members who are explicitly invited by the owner and who use their own Google Accounts. Access can be withdrawn by the owner at any time. Use of the application is also governed by the Terms of Service.
